The selling amount is substantially low compared to what the Premier League giants had paid – £35m (€41m/$45m) – while signing him from Ajax in 2020. The news created quite a stir among the fans who criticised the club for losing out on so much money on the deal.

However, Fabrizio Romano now claims that the Red Devils would earn a lot more than what was earlier reported. In his column, the journalist wrote that while the initial fee remains €500,000, the club would earn more from the deal in future depending upon the Dutch star's performance at his new club. The amount could rise to €4-€5m if he plays a certain number of matches and it could further go up to €10m-€15m if he achieves more at Girona.
